First Aid, Health & Safety - Consultation Services -  Learning Disability, Health and Social Care 

Hudson Blake was established in 2016 to help meet the training needs of different organisations and formed into a company in 2019.  Our current client base ranges from education establishments, construction companies, small businesses, care/health providers, families, childcare, gyms, martial art centres and many more. We are based in Hampshire but have clients as far as London for Learning Disabilities and UK wide for First Aid.

Our core expertise is Learning Disabilities and associated conditions, these workshops can be bespoke to your need or generic to cover a solid base knowledge. We have a number of associate trainers who are registered health professionals such as Paramedics, Mental health nurses and Occupational Therapists, therefore many workshops that we offer are not listed so please do ask.

First Aid, Health and Safety training is UK wide and Ofqual regulated. Certification is via First Aid Awards and under the office Nuco Training Ltd. All instructors have yearly Quality Assurance Assessments to ensure standards are maintained. All instructors use the same training and so courses will be consistent where ever you are in the UK with the added uniqueness of the individual instructors experience.

Consultation services are offered in Hampshire and surrounding areas, please do look at our list of services on the consultation page but these range from assessing need with regard to behaviour or health, reviews of risk assessments and supporting care providers to ensure best practice. Nursing assessments can be provided to facilitate care staff to implement person centred care surrounding individual needs, I am also available to provide in house buddy service to promote implementation of skill through a shadowing service.

Hudson Blake Inspire was established in 2019. We work from our Portsmouth office or your own environment to deliver training for and with Adults with Learning Disabilities.

For Employers we offer specialised training for employees that have Learning Disabilities. If you employ someone with a Learning disability and need them to attend training then Hudson Blake Inspire can help. We charge the same as our main courses but smaller groups with extra time and 2 instructors if required to ensure all participants get the most from their training.

For education establishments, we can offer sessions to whole classes on employ-ability skills such as assertiveness, giving/receiving feedback, budget planning and much more so please get in touch.

For Employees we offer the same as above but you can book direct to prepare yourself for life in work or to learn how to sustain paid employment.  We offer a reduced price for self funding and this will discussed on a case by case basis.

Jennifer Hudson 

Managing Director and Lead Trainer. 

Jennifer Hudson is a registered Learning Disability Nurse based in Hampshire with over 13 years experience working within a variety of services. She started her career within acute Challenging Behaviour residential setting, working with residents under the Mental Health act. Jennifer moved on from this to Community Nursing where she managed caseloads, provided training, supervised staff and mentored Student Nurses. The role was established around the principles of Nursing assessment to then form a Nursing Diagnosis, Care Planning, Implementation and Evaluation. During this time Jennifer worked with client groups within the core business areas of Epilepsy, Autism, Dementia, Mental Health, Complex health, Challenging Behaviour and Health Facilitation often surrounding sexual health. Following the birth of her 2nd child Jennifer took a career break to set up Hudson Blake. During the start up time Jennifer provided Childminding with a number of children who had additional needs utilising her Nursing skills to support the childrens development.

Jennifer started her career with Psychology Alevel and AVCE in Health and Social care. She went on to do a Diploma in Learning Disability Nursing and later completed a Degree with Honors in Clinical Practice with a focus on staff responses to Challenging Behaviour and particular reference to the effect on staff, how to overcome burnout to provide better care holistically. Jennifer has also completed courses such as Mentorship, Group Facilitation, Award in Education and Training, Autism Masterclass, Early years and First Aid Instruction including Internal Quality Assurance assessor. Jennifer is currently completing her CAVA qualification. 

Jennifer is a Kinetic trainer and all feedback talks about how engaging her courses are. She is very passionate about empowering people in the workplace through knowledge and this is shown in her delivery styles. 

Jennifer founded Hudson Blake in 2016 and within 10 months was nominated for 2 awards. The Business mum of the year Venus award which she reached semi finalist stage and she is the Hampshire winner for Influential Woman 2017 with Nationals being announced in July 2018. During a Business accelerator program run by Natwest, Jenni also Won the #GoDo award for Portsmouth for her planning and goal achievement skills. 

Leigh has a very relaxed manor and approach making the learning environment welcoming. There was plenty of laughs during the day which made it easier to learn and take in the information.

Leigh Spriggs

Inspire Lead Trainer. 

Leigh has worked within Learning Disabilities since 1994. He has had roles ranging from Carer to registered Manager and more recently over the last 4 years has been Training Manager. He has a vast range of experience when supporting people with learning Disabilities and is able to engage in different communication styles such as Makaton. Leigh has supported individuals with Duel sensory loss, Behaviours that challenge, Complex health and Epilepsy. 

He has a number of Qualifications such as his Award in Education and training, Moving and Handling, Basic First Aid, Assessors to name a few. His style is relaxed and engaging with the ability to adapt to meet all needs. 

Leigh is an Autism Ambassador and strongly believes that all people should have equal opportunities and this is portrayed in his every day approach. 

Just a massive thank you to Ian and yourself from myself and the team for the training you have provided.The training has sparked a big interest into the conditions again and lots of questions keep coming up. 

Ian is a lovely man and everyone one who attended the course enjoyed his delivery and engagement.

Ian Douglas

Mental Health Specialist trainer.

Ian has joined the team as a freelance trainer in November 2018 and has such a good background. He is a registered Mental Health Nurse and has been in Health & Social care for thirty years. His experience is vast in all areas of care including Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health both adult and elderly care. He is also an educator, trainer and senior manager within the NHS. Within his spare time Ian can be found on the Rugby pitch with a true dedication to his team, this highlights his team work and management skills.  Ian has a number of awards and nominations for his training and his style is always in receipt of amazing feedback. Ian is a very dynamic trainer and is great at team building during the sessions.
